John Lennon has always being an inspirational figure since Ged was young. Early 70s he attended a plastering course where he learned how to make mould and moulding and since he made chest set and different pieces of items.
In 1989 he started his own moulding business called ‘Décor Mould’ with intention to make fire place mould. However he ended up doing different mould for a night club in Southport which he did not get paid for. After few months he had to close his business.
Early 90’s he became unwell but he always kept his finger on his pulse and particular the two artists, namely Tom Murphy and Dave Webster who he met through doing mould work.
He started to make Liverpool Plates and Liverpool Scene Plate which his family and visitors appreciated and found very attractive and they encourage him, especially his social worker, to turn my hobby and skills into a business.
Since he joined the Access Enterprise Programme, he has been working with Business Coach Yan Miao from ELECT and Jim from Network Employment on his business plan.
In Aug 2009 I had an opportunity to display his art work on Beatles at the Liverpool Arts Academy where he was given very good feedback of the people who worked there and was told that his work will be shown from their website permanently.
He is planning to make a full size John Lennon Statue as he saw a book about John Lennon compiled by the kids at the school which included the photographs and news report etc. The history of Beatles has become part of the modern history curriculum at schools.
Once the work completed he will give to the school as a gift, where his family and his children all went St. James and now called All Saint School. If people appreciate his work, it will build his reputation as a local artist and lay a good foundation for his future business as well as boosting his confidence.
